Hair as Identity

The Barber Collective × Seattle Reign FC Documentary / Community 2022–2023
THE WORK

In celebration of Megan Rapinoe's retirement, Seattle Reign FC partnered with the RAVE Foundation and The Barber Collective to offer free, gender-affirming haircuts to people in the Seattle and Tacoma communities. The project was about more than haircuts. It was about creating space for people to feel comfortable, confident, and seen. The video has since reached over 381,000 views.

This wasn't my first time working with Georgette and The Barber Collective. In 2022, we collaborated on a Pride Month spotlight featuring Canadian national team player Quinn. I developed the concepts, filmed, and edited both projects, working with Robin Anderson and Steph Hirsch on interviews. Alongside the longer documentary films, I also created vertical versions designed specifically for social audiences.
